Cheraman Juma Masjid By Kashif Ghurki
This is my first post which is belonging to out of Pakistan but India. Very few people know about the most oldest and the first Masjid of Sub-continent. It is also an example for those who criticize on Islam, that the Islam spread by force. This post is about the miracle of Hazrat Muhammad(PBUH)with the relation of Cheraman Masjid which is located in Paravur-Kondungallooe Road, NH-66 at Kondungallor taluk, Thrissur District Kerala India. Cheraman Masjid is he most historical Masjid(First Masjid in India)which was built in 54 Hijri(629 AD) when Prophet Hazrat Muhammad was alive. " Ik ajab nazara tha shaq-ul-Qamar ka........... Dekha jb kafir-e-hind ny tu muslaman hogya" One night the king of Chera, Cheraman Perumal was walking with his wife in the balcony of his palace suddenly he saw the miracle of splitting of moon which is happened due to our Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) for people who persisted in denial in Muhammad,s Prophethood. The unbeliever of makkah said to the Prophet that” if you are truly A Prophet split to the moon and if you do we shall believe”.it was a full moon that night Prophet Muhammad split the moon into two by a gesture of his index finger. The halves of moon appeared one behind the mountain and the other in front of it then the Prophet turned to people and said “Be witnesses”. The holy Quran refer to this miracle of Shaq-ul-Qamar. Cheraman Perumal also saw Shaq-ul-Qamar (Splitting of moon) miracle. Cheraman Perumal Consulted with few astrologist they also confirmed that this event had indeed accrued and was not a mystical experience. After few month he met with some Arab traders and asked from them about this miracle. They told that this event happened only due to The Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He was the founder of new religion which is called ISLAM. The king Cheraman Perumal did something drastic. He abdicated the throne, divvied up the kingdom and set sail to Makkah to meet this man. He met the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad(PBUH) and converted to Islam and changed the name Tajuddin from Cheraman Perumal and lived in Arabia for a while. From there he had sent letters with Malik Ibn Dinar to his relatives in Kerala, asking them to be courteous to the latter. According to Burnell he was a contemporary of Islamic Prophet Muhammad. After reaching in Kerala, India Malik Ibn Dinar built a masjid with the name of King Cheraman perumal (The grave of Malik ibn dinar is situated at Malik dinar Masjid in state Kerala India). Then to spread the religion in his homeland, the converted Perumal returned to Kerala, but he died somewhere in Oman. A shrine in Salalah Oman is also located which is famous a Mazar Badshah-e-Hind(king of hindusan). Cheraman Masjid is still existing from the time of Hazrat Muhammad(PBUH) and now declared as heritage site of India.
