Delhi has been a crucial part of Indian history and has, thereby, witnessed several dynasties rise and fall. So, Delhi Sultanate, which was founded by Qutb ud-Din Aibak under the Mamluk Dynasty, saw a lot of a period of cultural intermixing. It was during the Sultanate period that also saw the rise of Shams ud-Din Iltutmish of Turkish origin, who was the son-in-law of Qutb ud-Din Aibak.He went on to ascend the throne of the Sultanate in 1211, ruling until his death in 1236.He was Buried in the Qutub Complex Delhi.
